Taking proper care of your jewelry will keep it shining brightly for a long time. Polish with a clean microfiber cloth and store in the provided pouch. It is best to avoid contact with salt or chlorinated water, perfumes and lotions as these can dull your jewelry’s shine. If in doubt, remove your jewelry before any activity that may cause damage. The bag provided also serves as a polishing cloth.
CARE GUIDE
General Care
14K Gold Filled
Gold filled jewerly is hypoallergenic and more durable than gold plated pieces due to the higher content of gold. This being said, you should still polish your jewelry with a microfiber cleaning cloth to keep its original shine.
Gold filled jewelry is made by permanently bonding a thick layer of solid gold to a base metal core through heat and pressure. Unlike gold plating, which uses only a microscopic layer of gold, gold filled contains a legally required minimum of 5% solid gold by weight. This makes it far more durable, long-lasting, and resistant to tarnish.
When cared for properly, gold filled jewelry can maintain its radiant finish for years—often a lifetime.
Keep your gold-filled jewelry away from chlorine, bleach, perfumes, and household cleaners, as these can dull the finish.
Wipe your pieces regularly with a soft, microfiber cloth to remove oils and maintain shine. For a deeper clean, use mild soap and warm water, then dry thoroughly.
Store in your Fluidwavy pouch or a separate compartment of your jewelry box to prevent scratches.
While gold-filled is durable, removing your jewelry before swimming, exercising, or showering will help it look its best for longer.
Sterling Silver
Similar to our gold filled pieces, sterling silver is hypoallergenic.
Keep your silver away from chlorine and harsh chemicals, such as those in swimming pools, hot tubs, or household cleaners. These substances can damage silver, making it brittle and more vulnerable to breakage.
Tarnish, fine scratches, soft sheen changes, and subtle color shifts are a natural part of silver’s life and add to its character over time.
To refresh your silver, gently clean it with a soft microfiber cloth or a silver-specific polishing cloth.
Pearls
The AAA-AA pearl grading system is one of the most commonly used standardized systems, where pearls are graded on a scale from AAA to A. Fluidwavy uses AAA/AA grade pearls with a S/1 surface blemish quality level.
Avoid getting your pearl necklace wet, especially in salt or chlorinated water. Our pearl necklaces are strung on silk thread which can expand and loosen if submerged in water.
Pearlsa are also vulnerable to many chemicals found in beauty products such as make-up and perfume. Do not wash your pearls with liquid cleaners as this can dull their lustre. Lightly polish with a damp microfiber cloth if cleaning is required.
